Redley Point » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
To all those who have visited it, it is well known that the Ashland Barrens is an inhospitable, sun-baked stretch of sand that can seem endless to a wandering traveller. Redley Point can appear to many as a mirage; the monolith rises solemnly from the horizon, its sheer stature unmatched by any other structure in the whole of the Barrens. Though its sides are steep and rocky, the climb to the top is fairly straightforward, the pitted slopes offering many foot and handholds. And on the top of the great Point is a veritable oasis – green grasses and a small, but deep, pond. The view is quite spectacular from the top; in fact the only flaw of Redley Point is the lack of trees for shade.

Eriburn's Geysers » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Eriburn was, long ago, regarded as one of the foremost explorers. He was renowned all throughout Khasir, and revered by all as brave, intelligent, charming, and undeniably handsome. Tragically, his life was cut short the day he fell into the largest of the then unnamed and mostly unknown geysers near Redley Point. Now his name lives on in legend and lore, and in his immortal bleach-white geysers. Eriburn’s Geysers erupt seemingly at random, at least once a day but commonly more often. The resulting spray is an incredible sight to behold.

Niria Catacombs » 3 threads, 8 posts. last update by Devin Hawtrey on 31 Aug 2009, 4:07pm
The name ‘Niria’ is enough to strike unease into those who have had the misfortune of venturing too deep into the Catacombs. Those who would truly be terrified by it are the ones who never escaped the complicated spider’s web-like tunnels. The Catacombs seem to have been designed on purpose, perhaps by magic, as their intricacies seem impossible to have happened by chance. Treasure is hidden deep within the Catacombs, waiting to be discovered by those resilient enough to find it. The entrance to Niria Catacombs is difficult to locate, as it seems to always be moving, hidden in the sands of the Ashland Barrens.

Fasian » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Fasian is a small town in the heart of the Ashland Barrens. Its buildings are small and white, and often lack proper ceilings, instead being covered with brightly coloured, handmade tarpaulins, due to the heat. It is most well-known for its market stalls, where trinkets and treasures of all kinds are sold – and in the alleyways at night, a secret, lucrative black market is thriving.

Nearmont Forest » 2 threads, 57 posts. last update by Eddicus Reverb on 14 Sep 2009, 11:42pm
Nearmont Forest is a thick, verdant forest, mostly of oak trees with a few hardy, old elm trees here and there. Beams of light stream resiliently through the thick foliage and light up the undergrowth with brilliance, and green shadows dance on the underneaths of leaves. A road cuts through the forest and its largest clearing, connecting the towns of Fasian and Mist Gate.

Biju Grotto » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
One of Khasir’s best kept secrets, Biju Grotto is covered up by the tide for most of the day. But when the tide goes out, the (rather small) entrance to this covert, mythical grotto becomes accessible, and explorers can wriggle inside to discover its delights: the walls of the grotto are encrusted in jewels and crystals of all imaginable colours. However, it’s not safe to stay too long – when the tide comes in, the place is flooded, and it can be difficult to escape.

Wadden Shore » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Most of Khasir’s southern coastline is dominated by Wadden Shore, a massive expanse of mud flats. When the tide is out, Wadden seems to go on forever, and even when it is in, the ground underfoot is thick, gloopy, and patterned with runnels and traces of water rolling down towards the ocean.

Kipp Fen » 1 threads, 1 posts. last update by Devin Hawtrey on 26 Aug 2009, 8:48pm
On the southwest coast of mainland Khasir is a saltwater marsh; in warmer countries, perhaps a beach would be where Kipp Fen is, but sadly for the residents of Khasir, the climate is not so forgiving. Kipp Fen’s boggy ground and complex waterways tend to scare away travellers, but only those few who venture here can truly appreciate the diversity of plantlife in the area, or the sweet musty aroma of spongy bog. No, it’s not the handsomest place in all the world, but it has a charm all its own.

Janden Penintentiary » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Janden is a prison that has fallen out of use completely. A few hundred years ago, it was the holding place of choice for murderers, and those who committed treason. The building itself is nothing impressive on the outside, a simple, sandy-coloured structure, but the inside of it is terrifying. The rooms are dark and have tiny windows, if they have windows at all. In some rooms, skeletons are still chained to the walls, and behind the building are the infamous Janden gallows. It is a prime place for exploration, but at night it can become a little too much for those of a sensitive disposition.

Elden Stream » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Elden Stream starts as a small spring rushing up from the top of Elden Hill, and it then trickles down the side of the hill where it becomes a short, but pleasant, stream, until it runs into Swyn River and its waters are carried out to the ocean. The water is safe to drink, and is refreshingly cool in the summer.

|
Elden Hill » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Elden Hill is nothing more than a little hump in the ground, however in a kingdom as chiefly flat as Khasir, it is certainly notable. Though it doesn’t even near the stature of its cousin Cridore, it is a pleasant little bulge, with soft grass and a gentle ascent. Little white flowers decorate the grasses, and at night they close their petals and become tiny, delicate baubles.

Bywater Meadow » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Bywater is the less pretty of the two well-known meadows in Khasir, however it has its charms. The grass is predominantly long and golden, and perfect for hiding and playing in. Nearer the bank of the Swyn, here and there a tree provides shade for travellers, and the grass is well-worn from the hundreds of people who have rested by there.

|
Pompon Lea » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Widely known as the meadow with the silliest name in all of Khasir, Pompon Lea’s other merits are rarely explored. The grass is just below knee-length, and the blades are a rich, deep green, clearly full of life. Flowers are ever-present – no one square foot, or square inch, is devoid of some pretty blossom, and they lend a sweet fragrance to the air that is irresistible to most travellers. At night, the meadow is full of fireflies, and the atmosphere is nothing short of sheer romance.

Swyn River » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Swyn River takes the excess water from Cridore Lake and carries it out towards the open sea. It winds gently alongside meadows, its banks never becoming steep enough to be unclimbable or intolerable. The water is colourless and totally clear, and utterly refreshing.

Cridore Falls » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Cridore Falls starts as a tiny trickle of water near the top of the Fell, where it cuts a rocky path across the hill, until it meets a ledge. Then, the waters cascade down with sheer, insurmountable strength, and yet a difficult-to-define grace as they catch the light and shimmer in a thousand colours. A cloud of water spray conceals the bottom of the waterfall, where it meets Cridore Lake loudly and spectacularly.

Cridore Lake » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
The Lake sits comfortably in the shadow of Cridore Fell, in the centre of Khasir. Its waters are clean and fresh, as it is supplied by the waterfall, which has been filtered through the rocks of the Fell. On a good day, it’s possible to see to the very bottom of the lake, and the water is perfect for swimming.

Cridore Fell » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Cridore Fell is one of Khasir’s best known and most beloved landmarks. The hill has stood steadfastly ever since the world’s conception. Although it is only around one and a half thousand feet high, its summit is the highest point in all of Khasir, and it does rise imposingly above the surrounding scenery. Its lower parts are covered in trees, and its summit is rocky and treacherous.

Deadwind Battlefield » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Khasir is a land wrapped up in its history and legends, and the story of Deadwind Battlefield is well known to all of the kingdom’s locals. Over a hundred years ago, invaders from a distant land came to Khasir, their intention being to settle a feud between its King and the then Queen, Teffia Aldacre. The attackers invaded from the west, cut through Nearmont Forest, and made it as far as the statue of Anahita, when the forces of Khasir fell on them. The land now is blackened and charred and bones litter the ground. Anhita looks over the destruction with stony eyes.

Byston » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Byston is Khasir’s primary port city. It is through Byston that the continent is connected to Khasir’an Haven, and vice versa. Despite this, the town is relatively poor, and rife with petty criminals. It has a dark reputation – rumour has it that monsters dwell in the sewers, and those who practice black magic congregate here to practice in peace. The streets are cramped and have telltale signs of over-population – endless washing lines are hung across narrow lanes, and the sheer noise during the day (especially on market day, which is Wednesday) is near-deafening to those who aren’t local.

Wailing Moor |

Encatha's Thicket » 1 threads, 13 posts. last update by Ysane Vastel on 12 Sep 2009, 10:37pm
Legend has it that there once was an old witch woman, who roamed the Wailing Moor and was as constant there as the ghosts and the mist. Her favourite hideaway was the white forest, where she would spend hours at a time wandering and tending to the trees. Now she is dead, but they say her ghosts still lingers here, hiding, sleeping, watching… The trees here are white and leafless, like woody skeletons, and a thick mist clings to the branches, perhaps in lieu of leaves.

Brood's End Lake » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Any horror story has a chilling bite added to it once children are involved. The story of Brood’s End Lake is one of these stories, but the residents of Mist Gate swear that it is not just some far-off fairytale: it really happened. This is how the story goes: every November 13th, all the children who had been born that year were assessed. Those who displayed magical tendencies were removed from their parents and drowned in the dark waters of Brood’s End Lake. Now, the attitude towards magic-users is much friendlier, but the sight of the lake gives a distant echo of times long gone, and the screams of the children linger on into eternity.

Incali Brook » 1 threads, 7 posts. last update by Ysane Vastel on 8 Sep 2009, 5:59pm
Like most parts of the Wailing Moor, Incali Brook has its own backstory, tied in with its surroundings. When Valwald Ballroom was destroyed, the rulers of Khasir had to do something with the vast numbers of dead. Because many of them could not be identified, their bodies were placed into the Brook and floated downstream, out to sea. The waters now are clean, but dark, and here and there on the riverbed are skeletons, or fragments of clothing of jewellery, remnants of times long passed.

Gobal Strand » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
The sands here are bone-dry and far more powdery than normal sand; it’s extremely difficult to pass through the Strand without getting an eyeful or two of tiny sand grains. Every few hours, the wind whips up the beach into violent, but short-lived sandstorms, and when it settles, any trace of people having walked through it utterly disappears. Because of this, the beach is unsettling to many, particularly those who believe that violent ghosts are the reason for the sandstorms.

Valwald Ballroom » 1 threads, 7 posts. last update by Ysane Vastel on 12 Sep 2009, 3:19am
Valwald was once the epicentre of merriment and joy for the whole kingdom. Every year, a massive ball would be held, where all those who could reach the Ballroom were welcome to dance, drink, dine and be merry. However, one year, a secret plot to weaken Khasir was carried out by the magic-users who had been exiled from the land. The ballroom was destroyed at the very busiest time of the ball, and thousands of people died. Their presence lives on, though, their laughter echoing through the ruined ballroom, their imprints roaming the surrounding fields, now and forever.

Mist Gate » 2 threads, 23 posts. last update by Jesabelle of Ebendon on 13 Sep 2009, 5:52pm
No person would wish to live closer to the Wailing Moor than Mist Gate currently stands. It marks the last bastion of humanity before the relatively pleasant terrain quickly descends into a mad, misty unknown, full of screeching ghosts and malevolent spirits. The houses are spaces quite far apart, and frequently the doors are decorated with charms to “keep bad spirits at bay”. Ghosts infrequently wander into Mist Gate; it is supposed that the lanterns that are kept burning night and day ward them off.

Wenca Island |

Wenca Jungle » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Wenca, a small island off the south-east coast of the mainland, is most famously associated with its jungle, which almost entirely covers the peninsula. The jungle trees are heavy with leaves, and life runs rampant from the roots to the very treetops. A strong sense of magic is here, and many magic users report that the thick, wet air gives strength to their spells.

Wenca Ravine » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Slicing directly through the middle of the jungle is Wenca Ravine, a steep-sided gorge that cuts so deeply into the ground that, at its very deepest points, it is flooded by a strong-moving river. The ravine’s plants are mostly low-growing shrubs, and thick mosses and grasses, but here and there a large tree grows, offering additional footholds to those trying to climb down.

Bolha Hot Springs » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Here, the heat of Wenca Island is intensified until it almost becomes too hot to bear. The air is full of steam and heat, and the water feels as though its temperature is only a few degrees below hot enough to boil a person alive. However threatening the place may seem upon first glimpse, it is a pleasant place to rest and bathe, for those who don’t mind the heat so much.

Wenca Watchtower » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Although the Watchtower is now out of use, and falling into disrepair, it was once guarded around the clock, for enemies often came from the southeast to plunder Khasir and its Keep. From the top of the Watchtower, one can see almost the whole of Khasir, and the view is quite amazing.

Khasir'an Haven |

Khasir'an » 9 threads, 22 posts. last update by Draegon Lasarda on 12 Sep 2009, 11:00pm
Khasir’an is the famed capital city of Khasir. It stands in the northern section of its island, Khasir’an Haven, and it dominates every map upon which it is drawn. The city is surrounded by a stone wall that has taken a beating from the ages. Within, parts of the city are poor, others more affluent, as one would expect. The city has a shady, hidden web of crime, however upon first glance it appears more than agreeable. The buildings are mostly wood and stone, very pleasant, and the streets are clean.

Ancrest Forest » 1 threads, 1 posts. last update by Guy Endore on 10 Sep 2009, 2:48am
A thick pine forest separates Ancrest Cliffs from the rest of Khasir’an Haven. It is rough and forbidding, the ground underfoot is steep and notoriously unstable, and the trees’ needles are so prominent and painful that many speculate the trees themselves are sentient. This rumour does in fact hold truth: at night, the trees awaken, and although they cannot move, they have wisdom beyond all bounds, and make excellent conversational partners.

Anahita's Basin » 1 threads, 2 posts. last update by Jesabelle of Ebendon on 5 Sep 2009, 2:39pm
The Goddess Anahita is worshipped worldwide as the creator of the universe, the bringer of balance and the reason why the planet Meos is as prosperous as it is. Because of her significance to Khasirians, a crescent-shaped lake was built in her honour, and every year it is there that the residents of Khasir hold the Moonlight Festival. The waters are blessed by the Goddess herself, and it is said that they have many medicinal properties. The shore of the lake is lined with lush grass and trees, and at night the moonlight sparkles on the water enchantingly.

Ansir Beach » 1 threads, 4 posts. last update by Eddicus Reverb on 12 Sep 2009, 2:54am
Ansir is one of the only real golden coastlines in all of Khasir. Its sands are warm, bronze and inviting, and the foamy, temperate tide licks the shores calmly. Ansir is renowned for its peaceful waves and relatively danger-free coastline, and for this reason it is both a favourite of families and invaders.

Ansir Ruins » 0 threads, 0 posts. last update by No posts on --
Underwater, just off the southwestern coast of Khasir'an Haven, is a ruin of a small underwater village. Nobody really knows exactly how it got there -- some say that there once was a sentient water-breathing creature that lived in the oceans of Khasir. The place is now abandoned, but easily accessible, as long as one is well-equipped and able to swim. There are treasures here, and items from old civilisations that are mostly unknown in this day and age.
